The Bost Lures #43 Small Billfish Buster is a highly popular 10-inch offshore trolling lure rather than a physical boat model. In the Bost Lures sizing hierarchy, the "Billfish Buster" series comes in three primary sizes (the 18" #41, the 13" #42, and the 10" #43), with the #43 acting as the versatile "small" variant designed to target a trifecta of marlin, tuna, and mahi-mahi.
Design & Action Profile
  • Nose Geometry: It features a classic slant-face shape that causes the lure to track with an aggressive diving and popping cycle, throwing a heavy smoke trail down the wake. [1]
  • Size & Weight: The #43 head measures roughly 2.15" x 1.175" and weighs 6 ounces, making it a total length of 10 inches fully skirted. [1]
  • Placement: It is optimized for the long or short rigger positions and is balanced to troll smoothly anywhere from standard speeds of 4 knots up to high-speed clips of 12 knots.
