The large 14-inch pear-shaped head made by Dennis Braid is the Braid Products "Marlin Maniac" (often referred to simply as the Braid Maniac).
Dennis Braid designed his heavy-tackle resin lures with a very specific, aggressive pear-shape profile. This style features wide, distinct hips right at the skirt saddle area before sharply reverse-tapering down to a heavily weighted, forward-angled slant face.
Model Value & Collectors' Interest
- Estimated Market Value: $80 to $130+ USD (Head only or skirted).
- The Collecting Context: Because Braid Products shifted their primary focus entirely toward heavy stand-up fishing harnesses, fighting belts, and metal jigs (like the Marauderand Wahoo Bomb), their original heavy-resin marlin series has been out of production for a long time.
- The Action: The wide hips of the 14" pear head act as a water keel, giving it a massive, unstable side-to-side swimming wobble when run from the short corner or outrigger positions before diving back down into a thick smoke trail.
