Before the weighted "Express" series became the mass-produced catalog standard for high-speed wahoo trolling, Don crafted this highly specialized, unweighted full-length resin head. [1, 2]
- Design & Profile: This is a classic "Yap-style" head—featuring an elongated, sleek, tapered cylindrical nose with a subtle offset/slanted face.
- The Action: Because it is unweighted resin, it relies entirely on its distinct hydrodynamic length and offset pull to hunker down into the water column. It tracks dead-straight without tumbling or breaking the surface, creating an incredibly long, tight smoke trail.
- Historical Note: Named "The Shotgun" by Don Combs, this model was designed explicitly to be pulled way back down the center line in the prop wash. It was a legendary tournament producer in the 1980s for tracking yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi, and wahoo
