The vintage Lee Lur Large Egg Shape Bullet is an incredibly specialized, rare 1980s big-game trolling head produced during Richard Groth's legendary manufacturing era in Destin, Florida.
Unlike sharp-nosed traditional bullets, this classic profile features a rounded, egg-shaped front taper that transitions smoothly into a straight bullet body. This specific geometry balances the lure perfectly, allowing it to dive slightly and plow straight ahead with zero wobbling—making it an exceptional high-speed tracking option for marlin spreads.
Design & Action Characteristics
- The Egg Profile: The rounded front nose helps the head slice smoothly through heavy chop without popping out or catching air. It creates a tight, highly visible subsurface bubble trail rather than an aggressive splash.
- Running Position: Because of its high tracking stability, it is an ideal choice for the Long Rigger or Shotgun position in a classic Florida or Gulf spread.
- 1980s Signatures: Authentic Lee Lur pieces from this era can be identified by their heavy resin pour, old-school doll eyes, and the iconic cursive "Lee Lur" sticker insert embedded deep inside the head.
