Product Overview
Up for auction/sale is a highly collectible piece of big-game offshore fishing history: an original 1980s Bob Schneider Pocket Jet trolling head. Handcrafted during Bob Schneider's golden era in South Florida, this specialized, high-velocity weapon is fiercely sought after by vintage tackle collectors and competitive tournament captains. The Pocket Jet represents Bob’s elite engineering designed to downsize a target profile while maximizing underwater commotion. [1, 2]
Design & Performance Features
- Micro Jet-Bored Engineering: True to its name, this compact bullet-style head features precision jet-bored water channels running directly through the face. As the lure is trolled, water forces its way through the front cavity and blasts out through the sides. This action creates a thick, bright, continuous "smoke trail" of micro-bubbles that makes a small lure highly visible from great depths. [1]
- Extreme High-Speed Stability: While larger, bulkier chuggers tumble or fly out of the wake at high velocities, the hydrodynamic shape and jet venting of the Pocket Jet allow it to slice through waves like a bullet. It can be trolled at blazing speeds—from 10 up to 18+ knots—without spinning or blowing out.
- The Tuna & Wahoo Weapon: Because it rides tight and sub-surface, it is a legendary producer for winter wahoo, school-sized yellowfin, and blackfin tuna. It perfectly mimics a tiny, panicked frigate mackerel or flying fish sprinting away from a school. [1]
- Trolling Spread Specialty: This aerodynamic head operates flawlessly in any position but acts as an absolute sniper bait when run far back in the clean water on the long outriggersor the center shotgun position.
