There are new old stock with original skirts and non yellowed heads. Neat piece of history here from the mid to late 80’s

In
1985, a South African entrepreneur and avid angler named Tinker Milner relocated to Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. Combining his passion for offshore big-game fishing with his background in design, he founded Tinker Lures.  Eventually they became Big T Lures.

Up for sale is a highly collectible piece of South African offshore fishing history: an original Tinker Lures 9" Shotgun. This model was hand-poured in South Africa before the workshop was taken over by Big T Lures. Legendary among old-school tuna and marlin captains, these early-generation Tinker heads are famous for their unique resin clarity and strict tracking balances. [1, 2, 3]
  • Total Length: 9 Inches (Approx. 230mm)
  • Total Weight: Approx. 3 oz
  • Head Dimensions: Just over 2" in length, matching the elongated, hydrodynamic profile built to handle fast trolling speeds.
  • Optimal Position: Specifically engineered to sit dead center at the furthest back point of your spread—the Shotgun (Center Rigger). It digs in beautifully far behind the white water prop wash. [1]
  • Action: True to the original design, it cuts sharply into wave faces, holding down tight without flipping or tumbling, while exhausting a steady, tight stream of "smoke" bubbles.[1]
Vintage Authenticity & Condition Notes
  • The Head: This is a genuine pre-takeover mold featuring the classic elongated head profile. The heavy-duty resin is remarkably clear for its age, showing only light surface hook marks and tiny storage scuffs from normal use. No cracks, deep chips, or inner fogging.
  • The Skirts: Dressed in high-quality double-skirting with an excellent, supple flare. The vinyl/silicone remains soft with no signs of dry-rotting or melting.
