Vintage 80s Boone Air Head Balsa Wood 12" Trolling Lure Dolphin Mahi Cut Face

Up for sale is a exceptionally rare, highly collectible vintage 1980s Boone Bait Company Large 12" Air Head offshore big game trolling lure. Made during Boone's legendary production era in Winter Park, Florida, this model is highly sought after because it is crafted from genuine, high-buoyancy balsa wood.

Unlike the common hard plastic or resin pieces, this balsa wood Air Head features an expertly shaped cut face (angled slant nose). When trolled, the lightweight wood body combined with the angled face cuts sharply through the surface, forcing an erratic diving and swimming action while throwing a massive, frothy bubble trail that drives marlin, tuna, and sailfish into a frenzy.

It is finished in the timeless factory-painted Dolphin / Mahi-Mahi colorway, sporting a deep green back and vibrant yellow sides with classic black dot eyes. The original stamped black "BOONE" logo on the side of the balsa head is perfectly crisp, dark, and fully intact. It is rigged with a silver-glitter yellow outer skirt layered over a dark green striped inner skirt.
