Full Description:
Up for sale is a rare, highly collectable piece of big-game offshore tackle history. This is an authentic, vintage Big T Lures "Small Zulu Impi" measuring 8 inches in total length.
This specific lure features the highly sought-after, clear www.bigtlures.co.za belly label, securely identifying it as a true, early-production run built shortly after Ted and David Horn took over the company in 1999. Before Big T migrated to a global
.com domain name following their legendary tournament successes in the mid-2000s, David Horn hand-labeled these early South African builds. It represents the prime era where every heavy lead core and brass center tube was individually turned and balanced on a lathe to strict aerospace tolerances.
Design & Performance Profile:
- The "Baby Brother" Build: While Large Impis are restricted to heavy Marlin spreads, the 8" Small Impi is a highly versatile weapon for the canyon fleet. It perfectly "matches the hatch" for bullet tuna, mackerel, and squid, making it deadly on White Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin, and Mahi-Mahi.
- Flawless Tracking: The weighted bullet shape features a slightly tapered, rounded nose rather than a flat face. This creates a deep-running, straight-tracking arrow effect that stays glued beneath the surface without tumbling or blowing out—even at high trolling speeds or in heavy, choppy seas.
- Iconic Moving Eyes: Fitted with Big T’s legendary, oversized moving shaker eyes ("Teddy Bear" eyes) that slide dynamically inside the clear resin head to add an irresistible flicker of life to the spread.
